Patricia Andrews Survivor Scholarship Program
The Foster Nest Patricia Andrews Survivor Scholarship honors the memory of Patricia ('Pat') Andrews, who was adopted. As a phenomenal teacher, mother and friend, she survived various traumas throughout her life including breast cancer. During Pat's battle with lung cancer the founder, Marie Rushing, spoke with her mother and they decided to create a scholarship to support the education of Foster Youth to honor her legacy. Typically, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, selected foster youth will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. This year, applications have opened on Giving Tuesday to keep the legacy alive.
In addition to a $1,000 award, the program will offer youth access to a short term mentorship opportunity to learn how to get to the goals they are looking to achieve and gain advice to navigate life challenges during their freshman/sophomore year.
